Description

Equal treatment for gay marriage, women's rights, civil rights, Americans with Disabilities Act, Muslims, Jews, Pagans, Sikhs, Buddhists, Wiccans, Vooduns, Santa Rians, Hindus, Satanists, Scientologists, and all others who believe and don't believe, those who can't find a job, those with no insurance, the non-violent, the poor, the meek, the humble... you know, the entire rest of the world.

While I agree with your conclusion I don't really understand your logic in how you got there. I'm from Lubbock so I know where you're coming from and I agree with some of the comments you've made here in responding to others. However, I don't agree that Cowboy heritage somehow leads to discrimination. I also fail to see what concealed carry permits and stand your ground laws have to do with anything much less equal rights. It seems like a non sequitur to me...

You seem to have a chip on your shoulder in regards to the White, Christian, Conservative, Male.

But more to your point...

Viewing people as just members of a "group" (which you've listed quite a few) doesn't really help the cause for equal rights in my opinion. What is needed is a push for individual rights. There wouldn't be a need for these groups to be concerned with special rights and protections if we pushed for their individual rights regardless of their group affiliations. I'm sure you'd agree the the individuals you've listed are minorities. If you think about it, the individual is the smallest minority on earth. If we deny individual rights we cannot claim to be defenders of minorities.
